ONE OF OUR CO-FOUNDERS, ASHLEY, WAS BADLY INJURIED WHILE ATTENDING VCU IN RICHMOND, VIRGINIA ON MAY 03, 2006. SHE HAS HAD TO UNDERGO FOUR SURGERIES ALREADY AND THERE ARE MORE TO COME. SHE REQUIRES 24 HOUR SUPERVISION AND MEDICAL CARE. OUR VOLUNTEERS HAVE BEEN RUNNING THE SHOW SINCE MAY 03, 2006.
If you know of anyone that needs help placing a horse, mule or pony give us a call and we will more than happy to take their horses into our home and give them a chance at a new loving forever home!
ANY OF YOU OUT THERE THAT ARE LOOKING FOR HORSES TO ADOPT, PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT WWW.ANOTHERCHANCE4HORSES.COM THEY ARE LOCATED IN PENN. BUT THEY ARE A GOOD RESUCE AND GOOD PEOPLE TO WORK WITH. THEY SAVE HORSES FROM THE NEW HOLLAND STOCKYARD WHICH IS FAMOUS FOR THEIR KILL BUYERS PLEASE HELP US CARRY ON THE FIGHT TO PREVENT HORSE SLAUGHTER AND THINK ABOUT GETTING ONE OF THESE HORSES THAT CHRISTY AND HER FAMILY ARE TRYING TO HELP.
THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR SUPPORT!!
site is under construction -- be patient with us please
Ashley had her last surgery on Feburay 01, 2007. She is doing great and we have had a few outings to the farm. She has been able to groom the horses by herself with supervision. We are thinking we should be able to get back to the business of saving horses in the next few months.
Please check back around August 2007 and see what we have to offer.
THANK YOU FOR NOT FORGETTING THE HORSES THAT NEED YOUR SUPPORT
Co-founders: Melanie (Mel) and Ashley
Without the help of people like you, those that donate time, money, adopters, volunteers and offer sponsorship, our mission to save as many of these horses marked for slaughter would not be as successful.
The Center is still in the process of being set up. We are still building and painting and working hard to make a good place for equine to live while they await their new homes. Our Center is set up for the comfort of the animals we have in our care, not the comfort of humans. Horses were put on this earth by mother earth, they do not require air conditioning or fancy housing, only humans require those things. A horse would much rather prefer to stand out under the trees where they can feel the breeze. Housing is not natural for horses, have you ever seen a wild horse ( a horse out in the wild, like the ones on Assateague Island) build themselves a barn? I don't think so.
We welcome visitors, but only by appointment.
Our time is short and giving tours of the facility and talking about the horses and what we do takes time(and there is never enough of that to go around) We do not allow visitors to walk around without a guide due to liability issues. We do not allow visitors to go into the quarantine area and if you have livestock of any kind on your property you must go through a decontamination before you come on to our property and before you leave in order to keep our guys and your guys safe from cross contamination.
